Audition for Edinburgh Fringe Show (closing 19/05/2012)

Open casting call for both men and women (age 20-35) for a new play which will run at the Edinburgh Fringe this summer. There are up to 4 roles available.

The play is called 'The Life and Sort of Death of Eric Argyle'. It's a new play, equal parts comic and tragic, about a gentleman named Eric who is forced to re-witness seemingly random, disparate moment of his life again, in front of a room full of people. Rather awkwardly he died two days previous to this and is still wearing the pyjamas he was wearing when hit by the car that killed him.

Unfortunately, the show will run on an incredibly tight budget. We're an unfunded organisation, and it's quite expensive to bring the show to Edinburgh. As such, all that we can promise to actors financially is to cover their rent, and that there may be a profit share afterwards. However, we believe in this play, and hope that it can have a serious impact at the Fringe, and that this run will lead to paid performances at future festivals in Ireland, Britain and around the world. Our previous production won a coveted Scotsman Fringe First Award at last year's Fringe and has since been invited to tour in a number of countries.

As part of signing up for this production, you'd be expected to take part in three weeks of rehearsals and previews in Dublin in July, and to flyer and help promotions for the show when it goes to Edinburgh.

Auditions will be on the evening of Thursday 17th May in Dublin city. Any callbacks will take place on the 18th or 19th May. If you'd like to audition, please drop an e-mail to rob@dangeroverhead.com with your resume, and we'll arrange a time.

Synopsis: Film follows a young man who, along with his father, falls into poverty. Seeing an opportunity to make some quick money, he robs a drug dealer, only to learn he is not cut out for this world when the dealers come looking for him.

Please note you will not receive payment. We may be able to cover travel expenses, but please not this is unlikely.
Also please note that actors will be asked to supply their own costume and make-up, sometimes multiple changes in a single day.

Roles:
Sean - The lead of the film, Sean is a young man, with his family struggling to break even financially. He siezes an opportunity to rob a drug dealer, and tries to sell on the spoils, but quickly finds he is not as street-wise as he thought he was.Male, aged 18 to 19

Becky - Becky is one of Sean's best friends and will become his co-conspirator in selling the drugs he has stolen, which puts her in just as much danger as him. Female, aged 18 to 19

Kevin - Sean's other best friend, Kevin will introduce Sean to David and Fitzy. He is unsupportive of Sean's actions, and keeps his hands clean of it all. Male, aged 18 to 19

Fitzy - The main drug dealer Sean will rob, he is not going to let his money go easily. Male, aged 20 to 25

David - Fitzy's partner who handles the money. He is just as angry after Sean has struck. Male, aged 20 to 25

Aaron - A homeless drug addict who is in Fitzy's bad book, Aaron will help Sean do his job when Kevin refuses to. Male, aged 20 to 25

Jack - Sean's father. Will require only a single day of filming. Male, aged 40 to 50

Customer - A man who Sean tries to sell to. Will require only a single day of filming. Male, aged 40 to 50

Glass Hammer Productions are seeking two actors for our upcoming production of "The Pitchfork Disney" by Philip Ridley which we are planning to stage in late July at a city centre location.

Cosmo Disney - Male actor aged 20 - 30.
Pitchfork Cavalier - Male actor aged 30 - 40 (this character has very little dialogue but a certain "presence" is required)

We are also seeking applications from directors who are up to the challenge of directing this surreal and controversial show.

• You may also be asked to cold read from the script

• Caliban & Ariel should be prepared to do physical audition (Laban, gymnastics, Suzuki, acrobatics or other)

The production company, GrandBoy, are looking to cast a male actor for a short film that we will be shooting in Wicklow on the 9th and 10th of June.

They are looking to cast a male between fifty five to seventy five years of age. The film will be shot in Wicklow and there will be transport provided for the cast from Dublin city to Wicklow only. The Bloom Collective seek 3 female, 2 male (one over 40) and 2 actors of either sex for a long term collaborative project based on Prometheus Bound by Aeschylus.

We are a newly formed Carlow based theatre company, called 'Slapdash Theatre Company', and we are holding auditions for our summer production of William Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.

We shall be staging our innovative and exciting production in the Delta Sensory Gardens in Carlow town.

We are seeking actors of all ages and caliber to help bring our (hopefully brilliant!) vision to life! While we are staying true to the original in terms of text, we feel the outdoor staging of the play, some playful movement and a Celtic theme will invigorate the legendary play.

This is a profit-share production.

We are aiming to run the show in the third or last week of July, but dates are yet to be confirmed.

We will need full commitment, passion and energy from everyone! You will have to be free to rehearse at least 1-2 times a week, and more in the run up to the show. We want to put everything we can in this production; it will be challenging but SO rewarding, and of course, a lot of fun too :)
