1. What is CastingZone.ie?
CastingZone.ie is a service that provides a directory of talent in the entertainment industry for use by potential employers including Casting Directors, Directors, Producers, Production Managers and Agents. CastingZone.ie is a meeting place for the industry. We aim to put potential employers and employees in touch with each other in an efficient and effective way, so that talent and industry personnel can be identified, considered, contacted and booked for work.
2. How does it work?
Talent and industry personnel post their CVs and portfolios which can be viewed by registered users- Directors, Producers, Casting Directors, Agents and Industry personnel.
3. How do I join CastingZone.ie?
New members may sign up by going to www.CastingZone.ie and completing the online registration form.
4. How do I make my payment?
You can pay immediately on-line by using your laser card or credit card or you can send a cheque or a postal order to our address.
5. Who can see my CastingZone.ie information?
Production companies, casting directors and industry professionals who have been validated by the CastingZone.ie team.
6. Is my personal information secure?
At CastingZone.ie we take your privacy seriously. Your personal information, and contact information can only be accessed via Encrypted Communications (SSL). Only casting directors who have been vetted by our staff can access your information and all views on your personal information are logged.
7. Does CastingZone.ie take a commission
No, a production uses CastingZone.ie as a directory and hence will deal either you or your agent if you are represented.
8. Do I have to have an agent to join CastingZone.ie?
No, you can represent yourself. Thus, if a production company contacts you, you will negotiate fees, hours etc
9. Will my agent mind if I join CastingZone.ie?
Being listed on CastingZone.ie does not affect the relationship between you and your agent. If a production company wishes to contact you, they will contact your agent (if you ahve one).
10. Can I join if I am under 18 years old?
Yes, although parental / guardian consent will be required
11. How do I know when my membership needs to be renewed?
CastingZone.ie notifies all members in advance by email and text
12. How do I cancel my membership?
If you require your listing to be removed contact us by email
13. Do I need to be member of equity to Join CastingZone.ie?
No, CastingZone.ie covers professionals, ameteurs and students
14. What should I include in my CastingZone.ie online portfolio?
It is your online CV, so you should include credits, experience, headshots, photos, your showreel and audio reel if you are interested in Voiceover work.
15 How do I upload material to my CastingZone.ie online portfolio?
See the relevant pages for photo, showreel and audio upload. It is fairly straightforward, if you encounter any difficulties, just drop us a line .
16. How do I update material in my portfolio?
You can update your material anytime online.
17. Can my agent update my portfolio?
You need to arrange this with directly with your Agent.
18. What is the minimum for my CV?
Always include a photo (headshot) and your credits, experience and training if applicable
19. Who is responsible for the material on CastingZone.ie?
The account holder is responsible for the material uploaded to their account
20. Can I upload film or TV clips with me in them?
Yes, you can upload a showreel of up to 15 mins in length. Make sure that you have full copyright over any material or the permission of the copyright holder. CastingZone.ie will not take responsibility for uploaded material, the account holder is responsible for the material uploaded to their account.
21. How do I find an agent?
CastingZone.ie cannot recommend particular agents
22. Can I email my CastingZone.ie portfolio to whoever I want?
You will be able to email a link to an online portfolio which will consist of your CV details, photogrpaghs, expereince, credits showreel and any other information to a third party. This feature will be live within the next couple of days.
23. How Can I send my CastingZone.ie information by email?
This feature will be avalible shortly.
24. What e-mail address will my CastingZone.ie information come from?
Emails will come from either Support@CastingZone.ie or from the productions / directors email address
25. Do you offer technical support to member who need help uploading material to their CastingZone.ie portfolio?
Yes, you can contact us by phone or email.
26. How will I know when my portfolio has been viewed?
This feature will be available shortly.
27. Should I join an actor's union such as Equity?
It is recommended that you join an Actor's Union, but it is not mandatory for all types of work.
28. How can I become an actor?
If you are under age we suggest you finish your education before trying to become an actor full time, however you can also join local theater groups. Following formal education you could seek out an acting training school.
29. How do I get started in the industry?
Get as much experience as you can. Take classes, join a local dramatic society and enroll on courses. If you discover that you have a serious appetite for the hard work involved in being an actor, consider applying to a drama school. To make it as an actor, you will need to develop your technical skills and, just as importantly, the ability to network, promote yourself, and deal with rejection. This is not a career to be undertaken lightly.
30. Do I need an agent?
No, you do not need an agent. However, having an agent can make your life easier in several important ways. An agent will promote you and arrange auditions for you, so you can devote your time and energy to honing your craft and performing.
